Lebanon, NH, February 8, 2005— Twenty years ago, isee systems introduced the
first Systems Thinking software for the desktop. Today the company, which has
become the world leader in Systems Thinking software, began its third decade
with several announcements that position its products (STELLA™ for the
education and research market and iThink™ for the business sector) for
further growth in the US and global markets.
"Systems Thinking is even more essential in 2005 than it was in 1985," said
Peter Senge, author of the bestselling The Fifth Discipline and the
Founding Chairperson of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL). "The
world isn't getting any simpler or the questions we ask any easier to answer.
Systems Thinking software like isee's STELLA and iThink are increasingly
valuable tools for constructing understanding about all kinds of dynamic
systems from natural environments to team dynamics to economic markets."
Dennis Meadows, President of the Laboratory for Interactive Learning and
co-author of Limits to Growth: The 30 Year Update, adds, "As a tenured
professor in business, in engineering, and in the social sciences I have used
STELLA to create models, theories, and eventually, books that qualified me as a
senior professional in each of those three very diverse fields. It shows the
power of system dynamics. And that power is magnified by the incredible
flexibility and ease of use that STELLA and iThink provide their users."
To take advantage of opportunities around the globe, isee has hired a new
executive team, released new Japanese versions through a strategic partnership,
and introduced the free isee Player™. "With our large and growing base of
customers and partners who are eager to share their models and expand the use
of Systems Thinking, we’re very excited about the future," said Jack Templin,
isee’s new CEO.
New Executive Team
Jack Templin, isee’s new CEO, is a seasoned management consultant, entrepreneur,
and educator with expertise in the strategic application of information
technology. He has held executive positions at leading consulting firms
including Lead Strategist at iXL New York (now SBI & Company) and President
of Arc eConsultancy. In addition, he has extensive teaching expertise,
including as a Peace Corps teacher in the South Pacific, and as an adjunct
professor at the graduate programs of both New York University and Columbia.
Templin is joined by Joanne Egner, isee’s new Product Manager. Egner, who brings
over 15 years of high tech product management and marketing experience to isee,
will lead the design, development, and marketing of both STELLA and iThink.
"Development is well underway on new versions, and we’re excited about upcoming
rollouts," said Egner.
isee Solidifies Leadership Position in Japan
isee recently released new Japanese versions of STELLA and iThink™ 8.1
through a partnership with JUCA USA and Varsity Wave, a subsidiary of the
NFUCA. These new versions include all the latest isee technology and allow
Japanese users to work and learn in their own language.
"isee was the first company to offer localized Systems Thinking software in
Japan," said Jack Templin, isee’s CEO. "Now, with this rollout through our
strategic partners, we’re expanding our reach in the world’s second largest
economy."
Free isee Player Released
This January, isee introduced the free isee Player, an easy-to-use application
that enables anyone to explore models created with STELLA or iThink™
without a full installation of either product. isee Player can be downloaded
from www.iseesystems.com/player
for use on both Windows and Macintosh computers. Our customers have been asking
for a simple way to share the many, many models they have created for
themselves and their clients,” said Joanne Egner, isee’s Product Manager.
"Through the free isee Player, we’re helping educators and consultants increase
the value of their models by making them very portable and accessible."
About isee systems (www.iseesystems.com)
— isee (formerly High Performance Systems) is the world leader in Systems
Thinking software. Founded in 1985, isee developed STELLA™, the first software
to bring Systems Thinking to the desktop. In addition to STELLA which is used
primarily by educators and researchers, isee offers iThink™ for business
simulation. isee is a privately-held company with substantial global reach in
business, education, and government markets.
A note on Systems Thinking software - Systems Thinking software uses
models to simulate processes and scenarios; pointing out consequences of an
action or policy, and then offering opportunity to change those consequences.
Models act like "practice fields", showing users outcomes that could be
painful, costly, or embarrassing if discovered in reality.
