What's
New in Version 8?
Version 8 offers a number of features that enhance
your ability to build, communicate, and learn.
Build
Precise Navigation Control
Precisely navigate to background graphics by
setting a navigation button to align the top left corner of
the screen with the top left corner of a graphics object.
When setting navigation from a message poster (or any other
camera navigation), depress the control (command on Macintosh)
key and click within a graphics object.
Undo
Replace that object or model building block
you accidentally deleted.
Graphical Input Devices Control
Array Elements
Graphical Input Devices can now control graphical
functions in the elements of an array.
Compatibility Update for Windows
XP
Version 8 supports Windows XP.
Compatible with Macintosh OS X
Version 8.1 now supports OS X.
Nudge
Position objects more easily. Use the arrow
keys to move a highlighted object or building block any direction
in one pixel increments. Hold the shift key down to nudge
in 10 pixel increments.
Communicate
Highlight Story Break
Draw attention to important feedback loops,
structural relationships, and model elements by creating a
storytelling presentation that highlights selected building
blocks in a timed sequence.
Graph Pad Enhancements
• To
facilitate more effective presentations, graph fonts automatically
scale to the graph size.
• Format
the X-axis scale by double-clicking the x-axis label.
• Hide
the Y-axis scale with the graph pad dialog
Y Scale on Tool Tip Mini-graphs
See more information in analyze mode. Tool-tip
graphs for model building blocks now show the Y-axis scale.
Hide Detail Option for Tables
Reduce clutter on the table pad by hiding icons
such as the lock and printer.
Experience & Learn
Access to Building Blocks in
the Model Viewer (Commercial Runtime) Version
Test (and therefore improve) users’ understanding
by allowing them to modify a map in the Model Viewer (Commercial Runtime)
software.
Turn Sectors On/ Off with a
Button
You now have more control over applications
that rely on various scenarios, exercises, or assumptions.
Turn sectors on and off with a navigation button to determine
when model sectors representing assumptions will affect the
simulation.
Type into Textboxes During
a Simulation Pause
Test and enhance understanding by allowing
users to log their analyses during a simulation pause, when
dynamics are fresh in their minds.
Print Export
Create a button that prints tables, graphs,
textboxes, and model sectors.
Security Enhancements
Allow users to customize graphs, tables, and
loop pads in the Model Viewer (Commercial Runtime) software.
Annotate Graph Curves
Highlight events, shifts in feedback loop dominance,
or other important dynamics by marking, labeling, and annotating
points on a graph curve.
