isee systems Offers New Online Training
Course focuses on applying Systems Thinking to organizational issues

August 22, 2006, Lebanon, NH – isee systems (formerly High Performance Systems) has expanded its training offerings with Applying Systems Thinking and Common Archetypes to Organizational Issues, an online course developed in partnership with Innovative Associates Organizational Learning. “isee systems is best known for STELLA and iThink, the leading Systems Thinking software tools we develop,” says Joanne Egner, Managing Director of isee systems. “But isee systems is also a Systems Thinking resource. Our books and training courses help people from all disciplines apply Systems Thinking to complex issues.”

Applying Systems Thinking and Common Archetypes to Organizational Issues will benefit decision-makers at all levels, including business and government managers, educational administrators, and program coordinators. It teaches students how to analyze an organization’s underlying structure, tease out the root causes of problems and determine the best way to improve performance.

Designed for beginners and anyone seeking reinforcement of Systems Thinking concepts, the course is self-paced and accessible online. Students will:

  • Develop an understanding of Systems Thinking and its applicability and an appreciation for Systems Thinking as a tool for collective inquiry.
  • Learn a new language to communicate more effectively about complex problems.
  • Develop skills for analyzing problems, identifying higher leverage solutions and recognizing both the intended and unintended consequences of choices.
  • Enhance skills for having productive conversations about complex, controversial issues.

Applying Systems Thinking and Common Archetypes to Organizational Issues was adapted by isee systems from materials originally developed by Michael Goodman, principal of Innovation Associates Organizational Learning, noted System Thinking consultant and author. Goodman was previously Vice President of Innovation Associates, a firm founded by Peter Senge. Goodman’s experience in bringing Systems Thinking discipline into many Fortune 500 firms and government agencies is incorporated into the online course content. Sherry Immediato, Managing Director of the Society for Organizational Learning (SoL), was instrumental in adapting the original materials for this web-based course.

Michael Goodman is also one of the developers of the systems archetypes—systemic patterns common to most workplaces forwarded in Peter Senge’s widely read The Fifth Discipline. He has published widely and served as the primary contributor to the Systems Thinking chapter in the acclaimed Fifth Discipline Fieldbook.

A 6-month, single-user subscription to Applying Systems Thinking and Common Archetypes to Organizational Issues costs $299. Multi-user subscription discounts are available. For more information, visit www.iseesystems.com/online.
